Falling behind the schedule
Unfortunately, I have fallen behind with certain self imposed duties. Those being publishing of this blog and also fulfilling some of the tasks I have scheduled for myself in October. Partly it is for attending too much business advice, however, which creates more pressure by bringing more questions than answers. I cannot stress enough that this is not to excuse my slipping focus on the business, which certainly occurred as well. Every business has many challenges and I would deduce that I will need to reduce some of my initial expectations and to specialise on water testing as my pilot service only. The testing of the air and soil remains a tempting path for my business, but I should focus my attempts on a territory where I have previous practical knowledge. It has been many years since I was first setting up the business in the Czech Republic in 2009. On the other hand, I remember that my final count of clients was significant within the two years when I was trading. Also, since then I have finished my academic qualifications and I can use them to the benefit of my customer.
There are still challenges in starting trading and publishing this website. I have to register for business to make it more straightforward. There is one final piece of advice I need and that would be from an accountant, as there is a possible discrepancy between starting as a sole trader or a limited company. I am now in the process of getting in touch with an accountant and the sooner I receive it, the better.
I have proceeded in registering with some of the professional bodies I mentioned before, however, seemingly the British Society of soil science may have to wait until 15 January 2024 (being it a cut-off date for restarting of their annual membership. Furthermore, I have started the process with the Water Management Society for the associate membership, but the procedure is not simple. The WMS membership could be crucial for my business. Also, there is the potential of getting certified with them that makes me feel hopeful that I would be allowed in as soon as possible. Also, I have started the trial membership with the Institute of Water. I shall explore the membership benefits now and I will be updating soon about the benefits for this business soon. Finally, I still want to join the National Association of Licensed Paralegals. My reasons remain the same - my master's degree in environmental law and bachelor's degree in environmental science, the structured approach of the NALP is necessary. My goal is to join this organisation as soon as I have registered for the business.
I will also need to conduct my market research. I am working on it and I hope to be getting some results soon enough. 31 December of this year is a good deadline for having decided on the potential locations for the focus of my business
