March Update on water certificates
As mentioned in the last article, the EUSR National Water Hygiene Certificate (also known as the blue card) was obtained last month. It is now also added into the company credentials, as I should be receiving the physical card any moment now. I do hope this will help to show my dedication to the safe and hygienic practices around water for the years to come.
I have also now completed the Water Literacy programme, which was provided by the Groundwork East. This programme was put together to spread the knowledge of the potential water scarcity. Less than 1% of the earth's water is readily drinkable , albeit water is a renewable resource. If the water mains and treatment plants remain dwindling with the growing demand in the time of climatic shift towards potentially drier weather, there is a crisis on the horizon. This could be in the near future - in the 2030s but much more likely in the 2050s.
Water Literacy provides a set of useful tips on personal and business water saving. The programme takes 7 hours in two portions (usually in two consecutive weeks by 3 and half hours) and then a submission of the homework is required. I have now submitted it and remain hopeful to receive the Water Literate accreditation for the business.
For the purposes of the business, I found a creation of the EAST scheme for the customers as the next step of the Water Literacy initiative in the VOJ-Tech Limited. The EAST scheme is a project management tool, which makes a business more sustainable in regards of the water usage. It is a shortcut which translates:
Easy - it should be simple to implement
Attractive - people should do it seamlessly - enjoy doing it
Social - so that people do not approach it as a lone exercise
Timely - it should not require any heavy training or preparation so that anyone can do it almost immediately, as soon as they make the decision to do so.
I intend to create a booklet, which will be here on this website in the period of the next few weeks. It would also be provided to the customers who book our services in the future. It is supposed to be a simple read with diagrams and pictures anyone could quickly implement at home. This booklet will be only a conversation starter, since the social aspect of the EAST scheme is a necessity. On the other hand, I cannot compromise publishing a more extensive tutorial in the future.
