Qualifications of 2025 and further

23/02/2025

Soon, there will be updates coming to this website. I consider the Water Management Society (WMSoc) membership, as my best chance to increase the reputation of my business. My membership with the WMSoc is right now at the Temporary Associate level. To move onward and achieve the Associate level, I am required to focus on qualifying myself in this field and collect 24 CPD hours before the end of this year. At this moment, I am in the midst of the Water Literacy course, which should put me on the mark of 14 CPD hours.

What I have achieved so far, there was not much movement in 2024. However, the round year 2025 gives a great opportunity to commence with this endeavour. I have achieved the registration at EUSR (Energy & Utility Skills Register) National Water Hygiene qualification (also known as the Blue Card). This is useful to enter the properties of water companies and it gave me a refresher about some of the technicalities, I had already known.

The Water Literacy Programme (WLP), which I am currently attending, will lead to water literate status. WLP is mostly about the water as a resource and about saving it. This programme brings together interested parties from various parts of the United Kingdom, which makes the discussions very interesting.

There will probably be more unrelated ways to achieve CPD hours this year. For example 4 times a year WMSoc publishes its magazine Waterline. I am always curious what is inside, however, as the text is of the informative nature of the industry and not all of it is useful for my business, it would be foolish to acclaim it as gospel readings. Personally, I think it is fair to claim half hour CPD points for reading of each issue, which accumulates at 18 points so far.

The WMSoc also offers 4 CPD courses online, which grant one CPD point and basic knowledge of this society. The knowledge from those courses is one of the prerequisites to achieve the certified status with this professional body. Furthermore, another prerequisite for moving up the rank to the Associate status is a completion of one of their classroom courses. The course called Temperature Monitoring, Sampling & Inspection of Hot & Cold Water Systems for Technicians seems the most viable for my business.

There is also the certified status of the Water Management Society, which could provide more credibility to the VOJ-Tech Ltd business. It is a personal qualification and it requires collection of 18 CPD hours mostly through the WMSoc courses. It is attainable, however, without having a detrimental effect on this business with the costs it needs to be spread over the following years. The target for WMSoc certified status is for the end of 2027, which would allow me to mix the qualifications gained during this year and the following two years.
